Berk Mart Makes

My name is Berkly Martell and I've been a member at Mud Lake for about 3 years now. I first fell in love with ceramics in college and have been working with clay and defining my style ever since. I work with mason stains to create layers of brightly colored clay that is incorporated into the walls of my mugs when they are thrown on the wheel. Once fired, the outside of my mugs are left unglazed so one can appreciate the contrast of the colored clay against the clay body. The results are different every time and I love seeing the natural patterns and lines that are revealed. When I'm not in the studio, I love to be outside skiing, mountain biking, or on the river!
