August 18th to September 15th
5 Weeks, 1 day a week
Tuesdays 6pm - 9pm
Ages 16+
In this class students will learn the basics of wheel throwing by exploring various shapes and sizes over 5 weeks. Intermediate students will learn about more complex forms on the wheel and are encouraged to have a project in mind. All materials and tools will be provided. We will cover methods of centering, pulling walls, and altering shapes on the wheel. After pieces are thrown techniques for trimming, further form alteration, and surface decoration will be taught. More surface decoration techniques and proper glazing methods will be covered during the glazing process. Set-up, break down, and clean-up for wheel throwing will be done every class. Students will have the opportunity to transform balls of clay into finished glazed items!
Class Outline:
Day 1: Intro and Throwing
Day 2: Trimming
Day 3: Throwing
Day 4: Trimming
Day 5: Glazing
After the session ends student pieces will be fired and students will be notified when their items are ready for pick-up.
I welcome anyone to sign up for this class. If for some reason you cannot make one of the class times, I will be happy to adjust the following classes to accommodate. Unfortunately, it is not currently possible for me to offer any makeup classes for missed time. So please consider this when signing up for this course. With that in mind, any cancellation or adjustments to this course must be made at least 2 weeks in advance of our first session in order to receive a refund. Thank you for your understanding.
*Class will be canceled or postponed if minimum class size is not reached 1 week prior to the first day of class.
