Want to try something new? Come join Alexandra for a delightful afternoon of whistle making! In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn the technique of how to make music with clay and create something truly unique. First you will be taught the basics on a small, cylindrical whistle- how to create the hollow body and air channel, shape the mouth piece, and manipulate the pitch. Once you’ve created the sound you like, you will move on to making a whistle in whatever shape you desire. Your instructor will help you bring your whistle vision to life! Paint your whistle with underglaze before you go, and come back in a couple weeks for your fully fired piece. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to create something playful, silly and colorful. Fun and laughter guaranteed. No prior experience necessary. Ages 12+.

A little about the instructor:

Alexandra Lebuhn has taught her whistle making workshop all over the country. Originally from Berkeley, CA, she spent much of her childhood in the ASUC ceramics studio, where her love of clay began. She has since studied at Mills College and in Asheville, NC. Alexandra believes that art should not be pretentious or perfect, but rather is simply something to share with others and have fun doing. She strives to create classroom spaces that encourage each person’s silly, creative spirit.
